On Feb. 19, OTHER SIZE GALLERY by WORKNESS CLUB opens the exhibition. “The Shape of White” by Caterina Crepax.
The Milanese artist’s solo show explores the boundary between contemporary art, fashion and design, transforming paper into clothes-sculpture and ephemeral architecture.
Born in Milan, Caterina Crepax grew up in a creative environment and developed an autonomous artistic research that is now internationally recognized. An interior architect, artist and lecturer, he creates wearable or scenic paper sculptures, exhibited in prestigious international settings, up to the 2025 exhibition at Milan’s La Scala Theater.
Paper, often reused, is worked through folds, inlays and pleats, resulting in empty, chrysalis-like garments that preserve the memory of imaginary bodies. A poetic play of metamorphosis combining sustainability and imagination.
For Catherine, white is silence, mental space and infinite possibility. A sheet of paper to be engraved and transformed into volume, where the void becomes form and the creative gesture gives rise to new narratives.
What makes this exhibition unique
The exhibition presents four dress-sculptures made between 2010 and 2026, flanked by the previously unseen work Favola barocca, a tribute to Baroque and Lecce stone, in which excess is transformed into lightness.
Preparatory drawings, which tell the story of the artist’s creative process and dialogue with the three-dimensional works, complete the itinerary. Caterina Crepax’s is a fashion that does not follow fashion, but reinterprets it with irony and freedom, crossing eras, imaginaries and future visions. An invitation to return to the blank sheet of paper as a space of creative freedom.
