Beginning Oct. 23, 2025, OTHER SIZE GALLERY at WORKNESS CLUB is hosting the exhibition “Reason Painted Blue” by Nazanin Bamdad. , curated by Maria Savarese.
For the first time in Italy, the Iranian artist’s works arrive in Milan, bringing with them an intense tale of freedom, courage and female identity.
Born in Iran in 1975, Nazanin Bamdad faced censorship and silence imposed by her country’s regime for her painting dedicated to the naked female body-an act of civil disobedience turned into a poetic and political gesture.
What makes this exhibition unique
The exhibition brings together large canvases and works on paper, made between the mid-1990s and 2025, in which the artist explores the strength and fragility of the female body through visceral and luminous painting.
Her figures move between dark spaces and essential colors, revealing an inner conflict between freedom and imposition, between desire and memory.
The title of the exhibition recalls the book of the same name by writer Shahrnush Parsipur, a symbol of cultural resistance and women’s freedom, and is intertwined with the verses of poet Ahmad Shamloo, a constant reference in the artist’s education.
“Reason Painted Blue” is an invitation to look beyond the boundaries, to let the expressive power of the body and the silent voice of painting pass through.
