There is something definite that happens when art enters a work space without asking permission. Does not decorate. It crosses. That’s what it does Other Nature, the first Milanese solo exhibition of Marianna Sannino, curated by Maria Savarese, hosted in the spaces of OTHER SIZE GALLERY by WORKNESS CLUB from June 11 to July 28, 2026.
Born in Naples in 1985, Sannino has been building an artistic research around memory and time for years. Her work expands between painting, sculpture and site-specific installation, with a rare coherence: each work is the trace of a history that continues to project forward. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, she has taken her installations to spaces of great architectural and symbolic complexity – from the gardens of Villa Lysis in Capri to the Neapolitan church of San Giuseppe in Pontecorvo, to theater, with productions directed by Stefania Rocca and Luciano Melchionna.
What makes this exhibition unique
Flowers, plants and birds painted on tulle – a light and permeable material chosen for its ability to occupy space without enclosing it – spread along the exhibition route as autonomous presences. The plant compositions, with their mosaic-effect pictorial progression, suggest an unstable and ever-changing nature. Birds are presented in sequences that record variations in wing movement, constructing a visual temporality that is read in space like a breath.
Among the works, a silent presence is dedicated toArtemisia – a plant with strong symbolism, a discreet threshold that accompanies the viewer’s path without declaring it.
“The goal is not to faithfully recreate the natural world,” says the artist, “but to build an environment that suggests alternatives to the urban context, where growth, lightness and movement take center stage.”
In a space like WORKNESS CLUB-where work is a harmonious part of life, not a parenthesis of it-this gesture takes on additional meaning. The work meets those who are in motion, not those who are already in contemplative mode. And that is exactly where it becomes necessary.
“With Other Nature Marianna Sannino makes a precise gesture: she gives back to the city a space of suspension,” comments the curator, Maria Savarese. “The nature that inhabits these works is not a romantic refuge, but a threshold – an invitation to slow down the gaze and rediscover, if only for the time of a visit, a different measure of time.”
