EDOARDO DE ANGELIS, MEETING WITH THE DIRECTOR

There is an Italian cinema that is not afraid. That looks into the eyes the pain, beauty and contradiction of the South and turns them into images of universal breath. It is the cinema of Edoardo De Angelis , and on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 6:30 p.m., Milan will have the opportunity to meet him up close. The Oscar-nominated Neapolitan director with “The Vice of Hope” will be featured in the cultural cycle of OTHER SIZE GALLERY by WORKNESS CLUB; moderated by film critic Francesco Della Calce.

Raised on the streets of Naples, De Angelis is now one of the most courageous and recognized authors on the Italian film scene. With “Indivisibili” (2016) he won four David di Donatello awards – including Best Film – winning over international audiences and critics. With “Il vizio della speranza” (2018) he represented Italy in the Oscar race for Best Foreign Film, confirming himself as an indispensable voice of a cinema that is both civil and poetic at the same time. His films have been selected and awarded in the most important international festivals, from Toronto to San Sebastián.

What to expect from this evening

In an intimate and passionate dialogue, De Angelis will talk about himself: his first cinematic suggestions, the behind-the-scenes of his most challenging sets, his collaborations with extraordinary actors, and the stylistic and moral choices that define his outlook. And above all: the future projects of an author who never stops reinventing himself.

An evening that promises revelations, unpublished anecdotes and reflections on a cinema that – starting from Naples – speaks to the world.
